Rabbi

Adam F. Miller, B.A., M.A.H.L.
Welcome to Temple Beth Am

As the new Rabbi of Temple Beth Am, I would like to welcome you to our Temple Beth Am community and take this opportunity to introduce myself.  Ordained by Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in 2003, this is my first year at Temple Beth Am.

I have the privilege of engaging with members in all aspects of Jewish living: including worship services, officiating at weddings, funerals, b'nai mitzvah ceremonies and baby namings, and visiting our congregants in the hospital. I also teach in the Religious School, the High School and the Adult Education programs, and work with all of our B'nai Mitzvah students for their special day.  My interests include a passion for social justice and Israel.  I have worked on projects promoting interfaith dialogue, advocating against the genocide in Darfur, as well as participating on the Central Conference of American Rabbi’s Committee on Justice, Peace, and Religious Liberties.

Prior to Temple Beth Am, I served for four years as the Associate Rabbi at Temple Beth El in Chappaqua, New York.  In addition to leading worship services and officiating at lifecycle events, I coordinated social action programming, organized Israel related activities, developed the Rabbi’s Seminar program for pre-Bar/Bat Mitzvah families, advised the high school youth group, supervised all informal youth programming, taught two classes of adult b’nei mitzvah students, and participated on the faculty of the URJ Northeast Camps, Eisner and Crane Lake.

Born in Watertown, Wisconsin, I spent my youth living in Detroit, Atlanta, Buffalo, and Tulsa. Following my graduation from the University of Kansas with a degree in philosophy, I entered Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. In preparation for the rabbinate, I served a yearlong rabbinic internship with Rabbi Raymond Zwerin at Temple Sinai of Denver, spent three years as rabbinic intern at Stephen Wise Free Synagogue, and completed one summer of chaplaincy work at NYU Medical Center.

I live in Framingham with my wife, Jennifer Siegal-Miller, an attorney who specializes in child advocacy law, and our dog Jackson.  I look forward to having the opportunity for us to meet in person.  You may stop by my office at any time or find me after services.  Additionally, feel free to contact me by email or phone, 508-872-8300 x 103.
