| Baby
Namings |
| Babies can be named
and blessed from the bimah during Shabbat services. To arrange for a
baby naming, please call 508-872-8300 or email
the temple office. Babies can also be named and blessed at a service
in one’s home. This is arranged through our clergy. |

| B’rit
Milah |
|
The temple is happy
to provide the names of mohelim in the Boston area who are doctors that
have been certified by the Reform movement to perform this ritual.
If you would like
our clergy to be present and officiate at the naming part of the b’rit
milah, please contact
the temple office.

| Consecration |
|
Our new students
are welcomed into the community and blessed at a wonderful family celebration
called Consecration, which takes place at the Simchat Torah service
in the sanctuary.
Please confirm with
the school
office that your child will be consecrated.

| Bar/Bat
Mitzvah |
|
Bar/Bat Mitzvah
dates are given out two years prior to the event. The preparation with
the cantor begins approximately 10 months before the date and includes
learning the prayers to lead the Shabbat morning service, learning to
chant Torah and chanting a Haftarah portion.
For more detailed
information, please see the Bar/Bat
Mitzvah section of the website.

After completing
the 10th grade, our students affirm their commitment to Jewish
education during services on Shavuot. They prepare a beautiful, creative
service, receive the blessings of the clergy and and inscribed bible.

| High
School Graduation |

Beth Am graduates a number of students who have participated in the congregation’s

| Conversion
|
|
For those interested
in exploring Judaism, simply schedule an appointment with one of our
clergy by calling the temple office, or calling them directly.
They can work with
you individually, or sponsor you as conversion candidates as you pursue
the classes offered in the region by the URJ (Union for Reform Judaism).

| |
| Mikvah
|
|
Although mikvah
has been used by the Reform community in the past mostly for conversion,
we now have a wonderful liberal mikvah in our greater Boston community
which can be used to mark all kinds of life cycle events (significant
birthdays, completion of chemotherapy, after a miscarriage, becoming
a grandparent, before Confirmation, etc.).
Please contact
one of our clergy to find out more about reclaiming this tradition for
contemporary needs.

| |
| Weddings |
|
To schedule your
wedding ceremony with one or both of our clergy, please contact them
directly.
To schedule the
use of the sanctuary, the garden or the social hall for your ceremony
or reception, please contact
the temple office.
Also, an aufruf
(traditional blessing of the couple before the wedding) can be scheduled the week before the wedding
service by contacting the temple
office or the clergy.

| Funerals
|
|
Funeral services
are arranged through the clergy, one or both of whom can work with your
family during this difficult time of loss to prepare a eulogy and counsel
those in need.
Our clergy and
a few trained lay members are also available to lead minyan services
in your home during the shiva period, if you would like.

| |
| Yahrzeit
|
|
Kaddish is said
on the yahrzeit (anniversary of the death) of your loved one during
our Shabbat evening, minyan and morning services. Yahrzeit reminders
will be sent to temple members in advance of the specific Shabbat.
You may choose to
observe the yahrzeit on either the Hebrew or the English date. Permanent
memorial plaques can be dedicated and placed on the Yahrzeit board in
the main hallway of the temple.
