Living With Terror –
Morality versus Security
Temple Beth Am
Rabbi David J. Forman
November 16, 2008
9:00 - 10:45 am

“Justice, justice, you shall pursue” (Deuteronomy 16:20). The rabbis ask: “Why does the word ‘justice’ appear twice? To tell us that one must pursue a just cause by just means.” Terror directed against Israel tests both its physical stamina and its moral fiber. How to balance the absolute need for Israel to defend itself against terrorism and the necessity to maintain one’s moral equilibrium has occupied Rabbi Forman, the founding chairperson of Israeli Rabbis for Human Rights and the former director of the Israel Office of the Union for Reform Judaism, for many years. He will address these moral ambiguities in his talk: “Living with Terror: Morality vs. Security.”

This talk takes place at the TBA Brotherhood Breakfast. An additional fee for breakfast is required.
