Under the direction
of Cantor Schechtman and accompanied
on the organ by Barbara Roth-Donaldson, our volunteer choir of about
20 dedicated temple members meets once a month on a Thursday evening
to prepare the musical liturgy for our Friday night Shabbat services.
This choir sings
every Shabbat eve except for Family Services (when our Junior
Choir leads the music) and at all our High Holiday Services,
as well. Some of our choir members have been singing in the Temple
Beth Am Choir for almost 44 years, and others have joined as recently
as last year. They range from trained musicians to those who just
love to sing, from those who read music and Hebrew fluently to those
who learn by sound and transliteration.
Because music is
such an integral part of Jewish worship, the choir adds a tremendous
depth to our Shabbat services, enhancing our prayer with both ancient
and modern melodies.
Come
sing with us!
