to temple members; membership is open to the public. In addition

Chairperson - Lisa Klein |

Outreach
Chairperson - Nancy Bromley |
Reform
Jewish Outreach began in the late 1970s as a response to the growing
number of Jews who were marrying non-Jewish partners. Its initial
focus was based on proactively seeking ways to make those who were
involved in relationships with non-Jews to feel welcome in the Jewish
community. However, over the years, its mission has evolved into not
only welcoming intermarried couples to take part in temple life, but
to also actively encourage all Jews to make Jewish choices through
discussion groups, community support, adult education, and Jewish
resources.
Many programs have been developed by the UAHC over the years, and
in fact, it has spent a significant amount of resources to promote
the Outreach program. At Temple Beth Am, the Outreach committee has
been restarted to promote the premise of Jews making Jewish choices.
We are not seeking to promote conversion of non-Jewish partners, but
rather, we are seeking ways to make all those in our congregation
to feel more comfortable with our congregation, regardless of the
road taken to 300 Pleasant Street. |
