April 2008
April is here!
As much as I love the fall I will say that Spring
is always a welcomed arrival. This month we celebrate my favorite
holiday—Passover. During my years here I have come to find out
that many families do not actually prepare a Seder or read the Haggadah.
Some will just have a special dinner, others
might not acknowledge it at all.
I can imagine
that if you have little experience with the holiday organizing and
leading a Seder can be a daunting maybe even overwhelming task.
For that reason I am offering a class for those of you who would
like to learn the basics. If you are interested in attending a
class that will provide you with the tools you need to lead a Seder
please call the school office at 508-872-8312 or email me at education@tempbetham.org
This month we
have two services scheduled. Our 4th graders will be
leading us in a Friday night service (along with the Jr. Choir)
on Friday April 4th. As usual there will be a Shabbat
dinner beforehand. On Saturday April 12th our 5th
graders will lead a Jr. Congregation service.
On April 7th
we will be offering a special program on suicide prevention for
our H.S. students. Congregant Eileen Davis who works for the Samaritans
has graciously agreed to run a special workshop for us. Thank you
Eileen for what I know will be a very important evening.
Finally on April
13th, Rabbi Miller will be leading our biannual model
seders. This is a wonderful opportunity
for our students…especially those who otherwise would not have the
experience of celebrating Passover. Thank you to Sisterhood for
all their help in preparing for the Seder. Your efforts are truly
appreciated as we continue this special tradition.
Wishing
you all a Chag Sameach.
